“Strengthening Defence and Security Cooperation in the Hemisphere in an Increasingly Volatile Global Environment”
In accordance with the Regulations of the Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (CDMA), the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, in its capacity as host country of the Twelfth (XII) CDMA, will convene a Preparatory Meeting, which is an Assembly of Member States, with the main objective of discussing and approving the Conference Thematic Agenda.
The CDMA, which was established in July, 1995, is a multilateral political forum of Ministers responsible for defense matters of the independent countries of the western hemisphere. The CDMA was created for the purpose of debating, analyzing and exchanging experiences among Ministers, and aimed at increasing cooperation in the areas of defense and security.
The Preparatory Meeting will take place on April 12-13, 2016 at Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, with the presence of representatives of 34 Member Countries and also with the IADB, which is responsible for providing technical advice, upon request, and institutional memory of this important hemispheric conference.
