The Cultural Meeting of the Americas in Fort McNair on May 12 has exceeded all expectations and has largely accomplished its purposes, becoming a unique opportunity to strengthen ties of friendship and promote our regional customs, traditions, folklore and cuisine. This meeting was part of Cultural activities to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the IADB and the 50 th Anniversary of the CID. The same had the brilliant participation of delegations of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago and Uruguay.

This wonderful Cultural Meeting was attended by distinguished and lively crowd of over a thousand people, which is a sure sign of motivation and high expectations aroused by this now traditional event organized annually by the Inter-American Defense Board with the invaluable assistance of the Interamerican Defense College. The success of the Cultural Meeting of the Americas reinforces our compromise to continue working with strenuous efforts for integration, cooperation, peace and security in our hemisphere.
