On 4th and 5th November it took place at the Inter-American Defense Board the VIII Annual Meeting of Humanitarian Demining Doctrine.
Sponsored by the IADB and the Organization of American States (OAS), the meeting was attended by 15 exhibitors, 55 participants from over 10 countries, with the objective of sharing experiences among experts, disseminate lessons learned and unify operating procedures and application doctrine of Humanitarian Demining.
The meeting was attended by illustrious people such as Ambassador Juan Federico Jiménez Mayor, Chairman of the Committee on Hemispheric Security (CSH) of the OAS, who performed the opening of the seminar; Ambassador Marco Vinicio Albuja Martínez, Vice-Chair of the CSH; and Mr. Alfredo Forti, Advisor of the Secretary General of the OAS, who conducted the end of the meeting.
The great increase in the Meeting demonstrated the need to maintain this annual meeting, which reflected the commitment of all countries to make America into an area free of anti-personnel mines. Based on this, the Inter-American Defense Board has begun planning for the forthcoming Demining Doctrine meeting to be held in November 2016.
