Major General (Ret’d) The Honorable Edmund Dillon, Minister of National Security of The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on the 24th November 15 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
The meeting was very cordial and allowed for very positive exchanges on how the IADB can increase its support to the Caribbean Region. This meeting was also great opportunity to reiterate the IADB’s appreciation for Trinidad and Tobago’s support to the Board and for its confidence in the Board’s ability to support the Secretariat Pro Tempore of the XII CDMA.
The additional information provided about the Board also allowed for a good description of the Role Facilitator of the organization and for a quick review of the recent and future initiatives as they relate to the Caribbean Region with a particular focus on the support to the Secretariat Pro Tempore of the XII CDMA, projects related to Natural Disasters Responses, the delivery of Master level education degree from the Inter-American Defense College, and diverse projects linked to existing Confidence Building Security Measures within this hemisphere.
Vice Admiral Gonzalo Rios Polastri also reiterated the importance of Trinidad and Tobago’s leadership and support within the organization, reiterating the great importance for the Board to receive students and personal to fill either staff or senior level positions from the Caribbean Region.
Vice-Admiral Rios also explained the Board’s program of visits to different organizations of the Caribbean Regional, namely CARICOM IMPACS, Regional Security System (RSS) and Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), and the importance of these relationships to the Board and its role of Facilitator.
Major General (Ret’d) The Honorable Edmund Dillon, was very appreciative for this visit of the IADB and the support provided to the Secretariat pro Tempore of the XII CDMA. He was also very pleased with the IADB’s interest to grow its links with Regional organizations.
