IADB meeting with The Hon. Steven Blackett, M.P., Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados

The President of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), Vice Admiral Gonzalo Rios Polastri, met with The Hon. Steven Blackett, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, on  the 25th November 15 in Bridgetown, Barbados. 

The meeting was very cordial and allowed for very positive exchanges on how the IADB can increase its support to the Caribbean Region and focused on the importance of the relationship of the Board in its role of Facilitator with regional organizations such as CARICOM IMPACS, the Regional Security System (RSS) and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).  

The meeting also allowed for a good description of the support being provided by the IADB to the Secretariat Pro Tempore of the XII CDMA, and the thematic axis being worked on for this Conference. The Hon. Steven Blackett and staff also displayed great interest for the Master degree of the Inter-American Defense College for which, Vice-Admiral Rios reiterated the importance to obtain more students from the Caribbean Region, elaborating on the benefits for the students and the country they represent.

The Hon. Steven Blackett was very appreciative for this visit of the IADB and reiterated Barbados’ support for the Board.
