IADB promotes panel of Hemispheric Cooperation on Cyber Security in the Americas

It was held on February 18th at the IADB Headquarters a panel on Cyber ​​Security, presented by Mr. Gonzalo García-Belenguer, Project Officer and expert Secretariat Cyber ​​Security Program of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) Multidimensional Security of the Organization of American States (OAS).

The event was chaired by Vice-Admiral Lord Polastri Gonzalo Rios, President of the Council of Delegates, with the presence of delegates from the member states, delegates of Observer States and members of the IADB.

The Cyber ​​Security Program of the OAS was created from the Comprehensive Inter-American Strategy to Combat Threats to Cybersecurity in resolution AG / RES. 2004 (XXXIV-O / 04), thus provided a mandate calling on the CICTE Secretariat to begin working on cyber security issues. Currently the manager of this project is the Lord Belisario Contreras.

On this occasion various topics of interest to the IADB and its Member States, including the establishment of national "alert, monitoring and prevention", also known as Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) in each country is discussed; Hemispheric alert network providing technical training to personnel working in cybersecurity for the governments of the Americas; the development of National Cyber ​​Security Strategies; and promoting the development of a culture that allows the strengthening of Cyber-Security in the Hemisphere.

It was addressed component Cyber ​​Defense and identified areas of development interest CICTE and IADB, such as seminars and simulation exercises to defense and military means.
