Portugal holds first participation as an observer in the IADB

In this Tuesday, September 22, Portugal took part for the first time at a meeting of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board as observer.

 As part of the OAS as a permanent observer since 1975, in June 2015 Portugal has shown interest in participating in the Inter-American Defense Board as an observer, designating for this task, on 1 September, Colonel Jorge Manuel Cabrita Alão Correia da Silva, Portuguese Army .

 At the meeting of the Council of Delegates of the IADB number 1367, the representative had the opportunity to know the work that the IADB provides to the Organization of American States (OAS) and its member states with regard to the technical, consultative and educational advice on matters related to military and defense issues in the Hemisphere.

 At that meeting it was presented to the Council of Delegates the new heads of delegation of Canada, Hear-Admiral William S. Truelove; the Dominican Republic, Brigadier General Julio Ernesto Florián Pérez; of Trinida and Tobago, Colonel Darnley Eddison Wyke; and Spain, Admiral Luis Cayetano Garrido.
