The Pan American Health Organization makes presentation about the Zika virus at the headquarters of the Inter-American Defense Board

On tuesday February 9th, during the Formal Meeting of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board was delivered by Dr. Leonardo Hernandez, Head of Preparations for Emergency and Relief in Case of Disaster of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), an exhibition about the Zika Virus.

 During this exhibition Dr. Hernandez explained the nature of this virus, its evolution over time and their foray into our hemisphere and its modes of transmission and symptoms and consequences. Subsequently, Dr. Hernandez said the actions being done by the PAHO in fulfilling their functions and corresponding recommendations for Public Health.

 Finally, Colonel Leonardo of the Brazilian Air Force, commissioned by the head of the delegation of his country, made a presentation on the participation of the Brazilian Armed Forces to support the actions taken by the government in the fight against mosquito AEDES AEGYPTI. This participation has been ordered by the President who ordered the armed forces to integrate the efforts to combat the proliferation of mosquito vectors of diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and zika during the duration of the Health Emergency Post declared in November 2015.
