On Thursday August 13th, the Director General of the Secretariat of the IADB accompanied by staff of the Analysis and Information Management Division visited the Pan American Health Organization with the aim of improving the exchange of information on natural disasters in the Western Hemisphere.
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) was established in 1902 and is the oldest organization of public health in the world. It aims to promote technical cooperation and partnerships in mobilization focusing on improving health conditions and quality of life in the countries of the Americas.
The delegation was received by the Coordinator of Emergency Operations Center Dr. Leonardo Hernandez, who led a tour of the facilities. There were presented the available resources, documents and manuals related to the subject, facing the greatest difficulties in coordinating the means to be employed in case of disasters.
A permanent communication channel to exchange technical information and follow-up is important for improving the technical, educational and advisory assistance provided by the IADB to allow optimization of the international and humanitarian aid resources in emergencies.
