Brigadier-General Lacroix was posted to Germany upon receiving his commission with the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps. His regimental employment covers a variety of staff and command appointments at troop, squadron and regimental level with the Royal Canadian Dragoons, 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise’s) and 12e Régiment blindé du Canada. It culminated with the command of his Regiment from 2009 to 2011.

His operational and international experience is varied. He was posted to the United Nations Mission in El Salvador in 1992, where he served as military observer, operations officer, and executive assistant to the Commander. He was deployed with the United Nations again in 1994, to Haiti this time. During this deployment, he served as military observer and liaison officer between the Dominican Republic and the UN forces stationed in neighbouring Haiti. In 1996, he was deployed in the Former republic of Yugoslavia as G3 Operations of the 5th Canadian Multinational Brigade. In 2004, he was appointed as National Command Element Chief of Staff in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2010, he served as a Senior Mentor to the Commander of an Afghan National Police Regional Headquarters, responsible for the operations of 22,000 policemen stationed in the volatile southern provinces of the country.

His extra-regimental employments include postings to the Armour School, 5th Mechanized Brigade Headquarters, Canadian Land Force Command and Staff College, Army Headquarters and National Defence Headquarters. He was appointed Executive Assistant to the Commander of the Canadian Army from 2011-2012 and Special Advisor to the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff in 2013. He assumed command of 3rd Canadian Division Support Group in 2015. This formation is responsible for all the institutional support provided to 3rd Canadian Division. It is comprised of approximately 3,000 military and civilians, manages a real-estate portfolio worth over $3B and a budget in excess of $200M.

Brigadier-General Lacroix is fluently trilingual (English, French and Spanish) and is competent in Portuguese. He completed the Land Force Staff Course, the Land Force Command and Staff Course, the Joint Command and Staff Program (Command and General Staff College), and the National Security Program (War College). He holds an accelerated Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in Translation from McGill University, a Bachelor of Military Arts and Science and a Master of Defence Studies from the Royal Military College.

Brigadier-General Lacroix is happily married to Ms. Isabelle Jean, a former Canadian Army logistician now serving in the Federal Public Service, and they are the proud parents of two lovely daughters named Ophelia (9) and Celeste (8).
